I had a wave of reflection today….a lunch with a talented CTO rekindled memories of recruiting for a slew of start ups in the late 90s.
I remember ….RIM when they bought Plazmic and all the crazy money people made from the stock;Jana before it was bought by Siebel; Baan and Epiphany before they became part of Infour; Triversity before SAP bought them; Stirling Douglas before they became part of NCR…………ok, you get the jist…I could write my whole blog about who begot who…as could many of my old recruiting pals who mentored me…and they could probably do it better
I am ever so thrilled to catch news about a new product or technology…some thing super hush hush that has been brewing in some quiet corner of Liberty Village…or an industrial park in Mississauga.
I have been twittering, networking, lunching, searching for a good and new wave of recruiting fun.
This recession has had a way of flat lining peoples’ disposition to take risks.
As recruiters, many of us have stayed practical; working with recession proof industries and there is no fault in that.
There’s always risk in innovation and courage for sure………I have a sense that some technology players are going to start mobilzing out of this cabin fever and start getting really creative. Will summer be a catalyst?

I had a CEO call me about a new company he is launching…..”would I sign an NDA”…then he says I can meet his R&D man and give my 2 cents about stategic hires we can help him with for the fall……………
Oh recruiting joy, oh recruiting bliss………I have a hope, maybe this recession will emerge with something like the wave of births that happens 9 months after a black out or, a cold New Years Eve……(hey Libras, that’s where you come from)
Well, TGIF, time to put my little one (of 3) to bed…..while visions of innovative ideas, product launches and startups dance in my head.
Nite all
